the short short story

Words have a certain beauty about them. It doesn't take a three-hundred page novel or sixty stanza poem to convey that beauty. Using no more than a paragraph, one can conjure the same power as a book, and require the reader to use just as much, if not more, imagination.

This is not a new literary genre but it is relatively unknown. Most of these are original short short stories. Those that are not are credited otherwise. When I think of new ones I write them.

I've included a lot of poetry and songwriting as well, especially recently. I hope you enjoy it all.

Caught Earths, a song

[a song I wrote, January 2015]

your eyes are caught earths in the gravity of quick glance
cause if I stare too long there's an abysmal chance
I capture your light through the curve of my lens
black holes suck faster with chemicals this dense

I'm burning hotter than I've ever burned before
collapse in on myself, a molten core
I never know, never know, where to search for you
so random here, always fear, that I'll never see you
like the time before I was born, such a chemical virgin
these chemicals inside of me, their emotions emerging

your eyes are caught earths in the gravity of quick glance
cause if I stare too long there's an abysmal chance
I capture your light through the curve of my lens
black holes suck faster with chemicals this dense

the clock ticks away, time moves so fucking fast
distance and rate are decisions of the past
it's all in my head, time between two events
i walk to remember but memories aren't in tense
so your face fades away, memories turn to dreams
electrical signals aren't refreshed it seems

your eyes are caught earths in the gravity of quick glance
cause if I stare too long there's an abysmal chance
I capture your light through the curve of my lens
black holes suck faster with chemicals this dense
black holes suck faster with chemicals this dense
black holes suck faster with chemicals this dense
