the short short story

Words have a certain beauty about them. It doesn't take a three-hundred page novel or sixty stanza poem to convey that beauty. Using no more than a paragraph, one can conjure the same power as a book, and require the reader to use just as much, if not more, imagination.

This is not a new literary genre but it is relatively unknown. Most of these are original short short stories. Those that are not are credited otherwise. When I think of new ones I write them.

I've included a lot of poetry and songwriting as well, especially recently. I hope you enjoy it all.

Sol, a song

[a song I wrote, summer 2015]

the nectarine is god's soul
and she knows it's very sweet to taste
it's juice seeps slowly from your eye
such a sugary thing to cry
die
dive into the orchard of her Sol

she puts herself inside the mirror
so you can taste her twice as clear
her nectar coats your rods and cones
and trickles through your very bones
her solar pulp becomes your flesh
and feeds your eye so you can see
be
beauty be the death of me

her core spins colors out from black
which makes your eye call memories back
your irises roll back inside
and pull emotion from the mind
your body turns to hollow space
floating on the edge of sleep
life's a dream that's just not lucid
look
love is in the eyes of god
